RESTful Tuplespaces
Vanessa Williams has written an interesting piece about building Tuplespaces using a REST style web services API. If you wanted to build an XML based tuplespace, Syncato would provide a pretty good base to build on. It already supports an API quite similar to what Vanessa describes and is a fully transactional XML store. You could implement the templates by building on top of XPath. It's been a while since I've looked at the tuple space idea, but I thought it was pretty cool once upon a time.
