Billboard tracks Net music downloadsLooks like Billboard is going to start providing charts based on sales of Internet music downloads. I've been wondering how artists felt about having Internet sales not being part of the chart making process. I'd think it would be quite a deterrent to getting the more chart concerned online. If nothing else it will be interesting to see how these charts are going to compare to the traditional charts. I wonder if we'll start to see differences in what become Internet hits, vs. regular hits. There's a lot more information available to the Internet shopper and it will be interesting if it actually steers people away from the more mass produced tripe that the music industry pushes so often. I suspect not, but we'll see.
