What happened to the XML:DB Initiative

Over the past few weeks I've received a number of questions about what happened to the XML:DB Initiative. The site used to be hosted at www.xmldb.org, unfortunately the company that owned that domain allowed it to expire and it was lost to a squatter. The site and all content from the old xmldb.org domain is still available via Sourceforge. http://xmldb-org.sourceforge.net/
