Moving from MovableType

Well it's been a fairly quiet few weeks around here. This has mainly been because I've been working on a number of projects including a replacement for MovableType to run this site. My original plan was to run Pyblosxom as a replacement, however it's a CGI program and is way too slow to run on the ancient hardware that powers this thing. So ... I decided to write my own system that would be completely XML based. The main motivation for this was that I needed a project to get up to speed on Berkeley DB XML so I built a weblog system that runs on top of Berkeley DB XML. The system is still a little rough and is missing some features like comments, but it's functional for the most part. I'm calling the software Syncato and it has some interesting capabilities. Once I get things tested out a little more I'll post some more detail about what the system can do, it's a little different then most weblog systems. Right now I'm mainly concerned with gaining trust that the system won't crash.
