.Mac SDK

Apple just sent out an email about the .Mac SDK. It's possible that this is old news, but I hadn't seen it before and it seems significant to me. Giving third party developers the ability to utilize .Mac services is pretty compelling and certainly makes .Mac a much more attractive proposition. I don't currently subscribe, but certainly could see doing so as more and more software uses the service as a central repository.

Of course it's hypocritical to say that. If this was a product from Microsoft (i.e. Hailstorm) I wouldn't go anywhere near it ... but it's an Apple product so I guess that makes it OK. The reality distortion field is in full effect. The voices in my head keep telling me to get to the Apple store and pickup a new Mac Mini and iPod Shuffle, must try not to listen...

Update: yep this is old news, actually really old news from WWDC 2004. Says so right there in the second paragraph too, ugh.
