Researcher finds strong uptick in open source DB use

Researcher finds strong uptick in open source DB use: "Researchers at Evans Data Corp. have found a strong uptick in usage of a variety of open source databases throughout corporate U.S. In Evans' Winter 2005 Database Development Survey of developers and DBAs released this month, Evans found two-thirds use open source DBs, and more than 50 percent use (or plan to use) XQuery and other open Web services standards with their data -- open source or proprietary. I spoke with Evans Data study author Joe McKendrick to get some highlights:"

(Via Blogdigger Search: xquery.)

I want to know who this guy has been talking to, because I want some of what he's smoking. 50% using web services and 44% using (or planning to use) XQuery? I call BS. I'd be surprised if 44% of DBAs even know what XQuery is.
