The Atom API

XML.com is running an article by Mark Pilgrim describing the Atom API. This is an interesting read and should also help with understanding the API for Syncato.

The basics of the Syncato API are pretty much the same as the Atom API, it's only the posted data that is different. Syncato uses a simpler RSS 2.0 derived format for entries, but the way the GET, PUT, POST, and DELETE are handled is the same. Once Atom becomes more stable converting Syncato to implement the Atom API will be quite simple.
