Yojimbo

Bare Bones Software released Yojimbo 1.0 today. This is a simple information organizer kind of app, basically a repository for notes and research bits that you find in various places. It's a pretty simple app heavily influenced by the iTunes model. I like the direction it's going. The way it handles web archives is pretty cool and the little drawer it sticks on the side of the screen is nice. If it had user defined smart folders and the ability to "tag" data with freeform tags I'd probably buy a copy. Unfortunately, my budget for notetaking apps has been exhausted on a bunch of programs that I don't use anymore. Currently I'm back to just using text files along with TextMate.

It's notable that with all the apps of this type available on OS X there's still room for someone to get it right. Jojimbo may be that app after a little more development.

Update: corrected the name from Jojimbo to Yojimbo. No idea what I was looking at when I came up with that name.
