Comment blacklists in Syncato
Another new feature in Syncato is support for blacklists to hopefully cut down on comment spam. This is supported on URLs in comments and trackback pings. This is still very much a beta feature so definitely let me know if it causes problems with comment posting. To prime the database I started with Simon Willison's blacklist and then added the spam that was already in the system. This is why I've had a few comment spams hanging around, I wanted to use them when I put the new system in place. The system now also includes a web based interface to manage comments/trackbacks and comment spam. It's a one click operation to delete and blacklist all URLs in a comment. You can retrieve the current blacklist as XML with the URL http://www.xmldatabases.org/WK/blog/blacklist/url, or you can get it as text http://www.xmldatabases.org/WK/blog/blacklist/url/text() Posted by Kimbro Staken Saturday Nov 15, 2003 at 3:49 AM | Recommended Sites JumpBox Virtual Appliances Virtualization Daily Grid7 Venturecast Inspirational Technology Scrollin on Dubs MC Ping - Microcontent Notfications
